THE MOURNING DRAGON QUEEN – Une Exploration Visuelle

En octobre 2022, devant l’abbatiale de Romainmôtier, est née la série The Mourning Dragon Queen.
Un instant suspendu : une robe noire, un voile porté par le vent, la pierre millénaire en arrière-plan.
Un lieu ancien, habité, où le temps ne se mesure pas mais se ressent.

Derrière l’objectif, Art of Yggdrasil, nom d’artiste de Jorge Schmitz. Dans son projet Art of Yggdrasil, Jorge explore l’image photographique comme un moyen d’aller au-delà du moment figé, en travaillant la lumière et le regard pour faire ressentir l’essence profonde des sujets, au-delà de leur apparence immédiate; son art cherche à susciter une émotion qui dépasse la représentation ordinaire de la réalité.

Ce shooting marque pour lui un seuil décisif : le premier d’une série de changements profonds, vécus comme une transformation salutaire, une réorientation essentielle de son chemin de vie.

Pour moi aussi, ce moment fut fondateur.
Romainmôtier n’était alors qu’un décor — il est depuis devenu un lieu de vie, d’ancrage, presque une évidence.
Ce qui n’était qu’une séance photographique s’est révélé être un point de bascule silencieux, un appel auquel il était impossible de rester sourde.

The Mourning Dragon Queen n’illustre pas un rôle.
Elle incarne un passage : le deuil de l’ancien, la puissance contenue, la souveraineté retrouvée.
Une figure entre l’ombre et la mémoire, devant un sanctuaire qui, lui aussi, veille sur les transformations humaines depuis plus de mille ans.

In October 2022, in front of the Abbey Church of Romainmôtier, the series The Mourning Dragon Queen was created.
A suspended moment: a black dress, a veil carried by the wind, millenary stone in the background.
An ancient, inhabited place, where time is not measured but felt.

Behind the lens stands Art of Yggdrasil, the artistic name of Jorge Schmitz. Through his project Yggdrasil Art, Jorge approaches photography as a way to go beyond the frozen instant, working with light and presence to convey the inner essence of his subjects, beyond their immediate appearance. His work seeks to evoke emotion that transcends ordinary visual representation.

This photoshoot marked a decisive threshold for him: the first in a series of profound changes, experienced as a positive transformation and a meaningful redirection of his life path.

For me as well, this moment was foundational.
Romainmôtier was then only a setting — it has since become a place of life, of anchoring, almost an inevitability.
What was initially a photographic session revealed itself as a silent turning point, a call impossible to ignore.

The Mourning Dragon Queen does not portray a role.
She embodies a passage: the mourning of what was, contained power, reclaimed sovereignty.
A figure standing between shadow and memory, before a sanctuary that has watched over human transformations for more than a thousand years.
